Cookies & Storage

LiveHowTo only uses cookies and browser storage that are strictly necessary to run the services you ask for — signing in, calls, payments and video. We don't use advertising, marketing or third-party analytics cookies, so we don't ask for cookie consent.

Website hosting and security

Set automatically when you visit any page.

  • __cf_bm — Cloudflare (our hosting network). Distinguishes people from automated bots to protect the site. Expires after 30 minutes.
  • __dpl — our hosting provider. Makes sure you keep getting the same version of the site while you browse. Expires after about 1 day.

Signing in and your account

Stored in your browser's local storage on this device, not sent as a cookie.

  • Sign-in session — keeps you signed in. Stays until you sign out (it refreshes itself while you use the site).
  • lhn-account-mode — remembers whether you last used Customer or Creator view. Stays until you clear your browser data.
  • lht-storage-notice — remembers that you've closed the cookie notice. Stays until you clear your browser data.
  • If you choose Continue with Google, Google sets its own sign-in cookies on Google's site under Google's privacy policy.

Calls

  • lht-call-ring-lease — for Creators, makes sure only one open tab rings for an incoming call. Lasts a few seconds and is removed automatically.
  • A temporary in-browser message channel lets your open LiveHowTo tabs tell each other when a call has been answered. Nothing is stored.

Page navigation

  • tsr-scroll-restoration — session storage that remembers where you were on a page when you press Back. Deleted when you close the tab.

Payments — Stripe

Stripe only loads on payment and payout screens. It sets cookies such as __stripe_mid and __stripe_sid to prevent fraud and keep payments secure. According to Stripe, __stripe_mid lasts 1 year and __stripe_sid lasts 30 minutes. See Stripe's cookie policy at stripe.com/cookies-policy/legal.

Video — Daily

Daily only loads when you join a video session. It may store settings in the video window (for example your chosen camera and microphone) so the call works. See Daily's privacy policy at daily.co/legal/privacy.

Fonts

Our font is loaded from Google Fonts. This sets no cookies, but Google receives your device's IP address to deliver the font file.

Managing cookies

You can delete or block cookies and site data in your browser settings. If you block the storage above, signing in, calls, payments and video may not work.

If we ever add optional cookies (such as analytics or advertising), we'll ask for your permission first and update this page.
